The “Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana” is an ongoing program started by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to encourage students of Basic Sciences, Engineering and Medicine to take up research careers in these areas. The aim of the program is to identify and encourage talented students with aptitude for research.

This program strives to assist the students to realise their potential and to ensure that the best scientific talent is tapped for research and development in the country. Generous scholarships are provided (up to the pre-Ph.D. level) to the selected students.

Please go through the following instructions in detail :
If you wish to apply for streams SP-Basic Sciences or SP-Medicine then you will need to submit additional details. These details are available in pdf format in the subsequent pages and have to be downloaded, completed and sent alongwith the application. To view pdf files, you will need Adobe Reader, which can be downloaded here.
If the candidates have obtained a letter grade in the qualified examination, they are requested to convert it into an appropriate % and fill-up the application form.
For all streams
An amount of Rs.200/- (Rs.100 for SC/ST) has to be paid at any core banking branches of SBI and a copy of the challan, stamped by the bank to be sent alongwith the application form.

* Girls students are exempted from payment of processing fee.

** Physically challenged candidates are also exempted from payment of the fee and should provide the certificate issued by the competent authority.

A soft copy of your passport-size photograph in .jpg or .gif format only and between a minimum of 1kb and a maximum of 150kb in size has to be uploaded.
Please ensure that the photo is of the correct size and that your face is clearly visible.
Please also ensure that the images are not too big to look at on the computer screen. They should ideally be the size of a passport photograph when viewed on the screen (approx. 150px wide and 180 px high).
Applications with photos wherein the face is difficult to identify, might be rejected.
Please ensure that you enter this form on a machine attached to a printer, since you will have to take a printout of the completed online application (step 4) for transmitting to KVPY office. Please also ensure that you have taken a print of the completed form ie. step 4 in which your automatically generated application number is mentioned.
In case you notice an error in details that you have submitted, please go through the application process all over again and ensure that you send only the application form which contains the correct details.
Incomplete/incorrect applications such as handwritten, manually corrected entries, incorrect/non-submission of payment challan etc. will be rejected and the processing fee will be forfeited.
Correspondence and/or enquiries (telephone, email, fax) will NOT be entertained.

  5. I would like to apply for KYPY online but I am not eligible for the exam. I do not have sufficient marks. I am currently making a project called “Perpetual Motion Machine” in which I am trying to get output without giving any kind of input. If it becomes possible then we can create history.
